On a more personal note, about WDM...
I recently was asked about the Women's Discipleship Ministry by a future student over email. I spent some time on my response, and ended up thinking it would be a good, more personal explanation of what wdm is about that i could share with everyone who is interested! So here it is, from my heart to yours! :)

about the women's discipleship ministry, our purpose is to bring the women of pba closer to the Lord through discipleship, accountability, and bible study. our main focus is discipleship, seeking to fulfill verses like Titus 2:3 and Matthew 28:19-20... read them if you get a chance, they really reflect the heart of this ministry! :)
one of the main things that we do is help girls find others who desire to be in a one-on-one mentoring relationship, so you can either be mentored by an older student, an older woman from the pba staff or faculty, or a woman from a local church! i actually have both an upperclassman mentor (who just graduated... so sad!) and an older woman from my church... these women are amazing... i have grown so much from the relationships that have been built with these sweet sisters who wanted to pour their love for Christ and the wisdom that comes from knowing Him into my own life. i can not begin to express the change that i have undergone in my walk with Christ because of this one-on-one accountability! this is also a great chance to work on things in your life that need change. these sisters are here to listen to your hurts and joys, to walk with you through life's stuff.
this is probobly my favorite way to make friends at pba... the older student that mentored me, candice, became one of my best and deepest friends in the world! she in turn introduced her to all of her friends, who i ended up spending my first three years at pba with! my relationship with shirley, the 70 year old woman that i have lunch with once a week, has really served to get me more involved with knowing the people in my church and given me a new perspective from somebody who has lived through many more years than i have!

on the flip side, upperclassmen have the opportunity to disciple a younger sister on campus! as a personal recommendation, i think that one of the best ways to grow in your faith is to always have someone older than you pouring into you, someone that is on your level to be accountable with, and someone younger than you that you are spending your self upon! if you havent already, i challenge you to seek God about this through prayer! :)
while discipleship is the main function of wdm, we do sometimes sponsor bible studies, depending on the needs and desires of the students. i am more than happy to work something out with anyone who has ideas, needs snacks for meetings, etc...! my initial suggestion is to get involved in the bible study that will be going on in your hall with the ministry that my best friend leads, point 58! there will be a girl living on your hall whose main purpose for the year is to pour into you and the girls on your hall spiritually! i know most of the leaders and they are increadible. if however, you want to do something else for study, let me know and we will work something out together!
i am here for you. please feel free to use me for questions, help, someone to vent to or crash on my couch. pray about it and let me know in what way(s) you would like to be involved with wdm!
